An Evening of Music and Comedy was held at the Combe
Bank School, Sundridge, Kent on July 25th 2004, to help raise funds for the restoration
of the bells of Saint Mary's Church, Sundridge, Kent. Fern Flynn, Jerome's mother,
helped organise the fundraising event in the hope of raising the money needed
for the restoration.
The variety show which was a great success included
music from the all-girl group, "The Shrinking Violets", who performed alongside
Robson and Jerome, in the video Joking Apart. Jerome also appeared in the show
performing his magic tricks. The compere for the evening was Bob Ogley.
Bands
also appearing in the show were the girl band "Green Street Blues" and "Breathing
Space", a modern jazz band, Lillie Flynn, Derek Hines and comedian Stephen Cacey.
The
concert (and tombola) raised almost £5,000 and that was sufficient to reach the
bell-fund target of £54,000. There appeal to the lottery fund has also been successful
which means that the bells of St Mary's Church, Sundridge, will soon ring again.
